Privacy

Last updated 14 October 2026. This is a plain-language description of how this early test version handles data. It has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer.

What we collect

  • Account: your email address and a hashed password, managed by our authentication provider (Supabase).
  • Learning preferences: target language, explanation language, level, goal and session length.
  • Learning activity: practice conversations, corrections, saved phrases, review results, recurring mistake categories and check-in scores.
  • AI usage records: which feature was used and how many tokens it consumed, to enforce monthly limits and monitor cost.

We don't ask for your name, age, phone number or location, and we don't use advertising or third-party tracking.

How AI processing works

When you use an AI feature, the relevant text (your recent messages in that conversation, the scenario, your level and a short list of recurring mistake categories) is sent from our server to an AI provider to generate a response. AI features currently use Google's Gemini API. On Google's free tier, Google may use the text and images sent to it to improve its products, and human reviewers may read them. Please don't type personal or sensitive information into practice conversations, game answers or drawings.

Photos (Word Cam)

Photos are resized in your browser, sent once to the AI provider (Google) to identify objects. We don't store or log the image, but under Google's free-tier terms Google may keep and use it. Drawings sent to the AI in Sketch & Guess are handled the same way. Only the words you choose to save are kept. Avoid photos showing people, documents or screens.

Demo mode

In demo mode your data is stored only in your browser's local storage and is never saved to our database. Clearing your browser data or using “Reset demo data” removes it. AI requests made in demo mode are still processed by the AI provider as described above.

Storage and access

Account data is stored in a Supabase database hosted in the ap-south-1 (Mumbai) region. Database rules ensure each account can only read and change its own data.

Your choices

  • Export all your data as a JSON file from Settings.
  • Permanently delete your account and all associated data from Settings. This cannot be undone.
